Prompted by an open letter post by TAN, Gawker has started an ongoing section about freelance writers not getting paid by major publications. Many of them will withhold, say, a $50 payment for months, until the author starts screaming and making threats. Nasty stuff, and quite an eye-opener. I'll think twice before purchasing some of these second-rate publications...
